We try to design products that last (almost) forever. But if they do wear out, bring them back to us. If they are still in reasonable shape we can refurbish them for other applications thus reducing consumption of virgin materials.
But what happens to ropes and Nets when they get tired, worn out and are beyond refurbishing?
Retired Nets is cut up and used in non-critical applications such as screening or on racking. Many of the worst worn end up stabilizing landfill, catching ice fragments at power stations, supporting grape vines and other climbing plants or even mixed in with cement to enhance its strength and flexibility (and reducing limestone usage). We even take back old ski racing gates and grind them up for re-use in such things as plastic pails, CDs, packaging material and park benches.
After all, this is our planet too! Barry is working closely with Environment Canada and the National Research Council’s Enviroclub with an objective of achieving a zero waste operation.
