Testimony
Henrik G Tonning, President NB Alpine, ACA Technical Delegate – Atlantic Region
In light of NB Alpine’s recent purchase of a significant amount of Barry B Nets, I have been asked to provide some comments with respect to this equipment.
I have no hesitation in recommending this system to any organization interested in providing a safety installation for ski racing which is second to none.
The safety factor of the Barry B Net system is without question, given the extensive testing undertaken with Alpine Canada Alpin and our experience here in New Brunswick.
In addition to the issue of safety, the system itself is far superior to others we have used throughout New Brunswick. The complete unit can easily be handled by one course worker which we have found reduces fatigue, and more importantly, reduces the chance of injury because it is no longer necessary to move unsecured piles of net and bundles of unattached polycarbs. Alterations and repairs to course netting are simple, quick and require less people.
Most importantly the installation is totally consistent and ROC’s do not have to worry about their crews installing different kinds of net in different ways. Wire ties, wire cutters, loose poles flying down the hill and other problems are a thing of the past.
Following our purchase a Barry representative came to Crabbe Mountain and provided an on-snow seminar concerning the use and installation of this product. This information is common sense and concise, and those qualified can easily oversee installation and ensure a consistent level of safety throughout a course.
As for storage, we have found that when properly rolled we can easily and more efficiently store and access more Barry B Nets than we can any other product.
We routinely move these nets throughout the Province and anticipate taking it to other venues in the Atlantic Region. We are able to do this because the system is so compact and light weight. We recently purchased a small van trailer and it is ideal for moving significant amounts of net with minimal difficulty.
We anticipate purchasing more to compliment the 70 rolls we already have here in New Brunswick and I do not hesitate in recommending this system over any other. We’ve used them all, and this is by far superior.
Yours truly,
Henrik G Tonning, President NB Alpine, ACA Technical Delegate – Atlantic Region

On behalf of the Lake Louise Race Organizing Committee, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the professional manner in which matters concerning supply of safety equipment were handled over the years.
The new ‘A’ and ‘B’ nets, polycarbonate poles and clips supplied by you met or exceeded our expectations. Equally important to the Race Organizing Committee in the selection of your products was the personal interest that you took in our concerns and the commitments made to after-sales service.
We would recommend you and your products to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and ParaOlympic Winter Games Race Organizing Committees considering the purchase of such safety equipment. The quality of the products coupled with technical expertise and personal attention to the issues provides the necessary confidence in our Committee to have you as a preferred supplier.
Should VANOC or any other Race Organizing Committee wish to discuss this subject with me or other members of our Committee, please have them contract me at the address shown below. Thanks again!
